Early days, but a welcome development for all the community if agreed.
| We are in negotiations with the COOP in Cranbrook for the use of land they own at the back and to left of the store for a new community centre development. Currently this part of the site is under used, a little derelict BUT very attractively it does not have any planning issues to build a centre that could be due to “limits to build development”, outstanding beauty, conservation concerns or even being overlooked. We approached the CO-OP with our proposal, with full support of the members of the CWC, 3 weeks ago. The forward thinking CO-OP General Manager, John Miller is, as a result of our presentation, 100% behind this proposition from the Cranbrook Weald Centre Group in having a new community centre on this brown field site. Mr Miller said “it will be very beneficial to the community, there is excellent parking, central access and it is a non-overlooked location. In addition, the COOP will enjoy considerable additional footfall generated from the use of facilities in the exciting new venture. Everyone wins !”. So, our group’s proposal has been endorsed by Mr Miller and is currently under consideration with his head office and regional management. Early days, but a welcome development for all the community if agreed. |
