John Laing / TWBC Partnership
TWBC and John Laing have set up a Limited Company with profits being equally shared to regenerate over 80 TWBC assets worth £80m. One of these assets is the Council Offices Site in Cranbrook. Please let us know what your comments are related to this issue that was discussed at the recent Parish Council AGM.
[ Posted byHoward Cox, May 03, 2009 4:12 PM ] I hope that this new company will be for the benefit of the Borough of TW.
[ Posted byAlison Martin-Clark, May 18, 2009 1:44 PM ] TWBC are on the move re offices in Cranbrook. I received a letter last Friday 15th May telling me to vacate by 30th June 09. Kumon Maths has rented space there for more that 14 years and now has to find a new home. If anyone can help, please email. My rent could go towards the fund?
[ Posted byHoward Cox, May 18, 2009 2:10 PM ] Alison, I will follow this up with the CWC team and the CBA. Keep in touch. H
[ Posted byPeter North, May 18, 2009 5:37 PM ] Let me assure everyone that the Parish Council is completely behind the Weald Centre Project.
As far as the Borough Offices are concerned TWBC have recently declined to gift or sell the site, cheaply to the Parish. TWBC quote the need for 'Best Value' which quite frankly is nonsense
I have asked whether the Borough would incur a penalty from John Laing if they passed over the offices to the Parish (The offices form part of the TWBC/Laing development portfolio and Laings could lose potential profit) As yet I have received no definitive answer.
[ Posted byalison clark, May 22, 2009 4:27 PM ] I have received a further letter from William Benson Head of Legal Services confirming agreement terminated on 30th June. The TWBC office told me that the CAB also has to leave the building by that date. I have sent these letters to Cllr Roger Manning as he seemed interested, and copied Peter North, Howard Cox and Susan Pratt.
[ Posted bygraham lovett, May 23, 2009 2:49 PM ] Where is the suport from our borough/ kcc
councillors I soppose they will be around poseing at the vestry hall come election times .This is the time and our opportunity to show them just how we feel about them and their apathy towards the town.
Wake up you residents and let them know you are here.
Why dont we organise a rates protest and cancel payments to TWBC until we get some action from them
[ Posted bygraham lovett, May 30, 2009 12:54 PM ] The only way to stop TWBC is a judicial re view surely some onr out there knows someone who could help and offer guidance .
We just cant let these mandarins walk all over us ,time is short desperate action is needed,I hope you dont forget these so called politicians when you go to vote, its time for change get rid of these idiots and elect some one who knows who they are and are for the people
[ Posted byalison clark, June 19, 2009 1:14 PM ] Friday 19/6. Apparently there was a council meeting last night to discuss demolition of the TWBC offices in the High Street! Roy Bullock is continuing with his plans despite Cranbrook's protests. Can't he be stopped! Surely he is not acting lawfully.
[ Posted byRebecca Chapman, July 29, 2010 3:59 PM ] TWBC is in financial trouble due to its investments in Icelandic Banks; now they are joining forces with Laing "to share profits", which means that instead of having the local people's interests they will be looking to see how much money they can claw back. I believe it is fundamentally wrong for the council to rubber stamp planning applications because it gets a cash incentive. Makes a mockery of the planning process in my opinion.
