LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN MR BULLOCK by PARISH COUNCIL

"The Parish's Policy and Resources Committee submitted to the Cranbrook & Sissinghurst Council December meeting the following resolution which was duly passed by the Council: "The Parish Council deplores the misleading article on page 15 of the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council "Local" magazine and recommend that Cranbrook & SissingHurst Parish Council resolve not to participate in any further Chatham House Rule meetings called by or on behalf of the current leader of the Tunbridge Wells Borough Council due to lack of confidence in his ability to act in the best intertests of this Parish"

8th September 2009:
The CWC is  a member of the CIC Association of Community Interest Companies:

What is a CIC?

The Cranbrook Weald Centre Group (CWC) is dedicated to raising significant funds for a state of the art community centre.  The CWC is a fund raising management group independent of the Cranbrook and Sissinghurst Parish Council This is a Community Partnership and so we will need your HELP. We cannot achieve this figure without it

Cranbrook Weald Centre CIC is a Community Interest Company: Reg Number : 6911308

It is a social enterprise that will use profits, funds, grants and assets to create, develop and build a new self sustaining community centre in Cranbrook in partnership with business, education and voluntary organisations. It is independent of any political party and local council authority.

Chairman of the Cranbrook & Sissinghurst Council Peter North Says

In response to the Borough Council’s Leaders assertions about the future of the High Street Borough Council Offices, recently published on page 15 of the ‘Local’ magazine in which Cllr. Bullock has stated.....

This site is now operationally redundant and the Parish Council has decided that they do not wish to build a new community hall on this site”.

"I consider this statement to be at best a very relaxed interpretation of events."

At a Chatham House Rule meeting held on 27th November 2008 between Cllr Bullock Cabinet Leader, Rob Cotterall the then Head of Borough Planning and this Parish Council, one of the parties present proposed the construction of housing on the site of the disused Borough Council offices at the top of the High Street.

It was further proposed that during the course of this construction a very small ‘shell only’ building of 200 sq. Metres in total, be built alongside to serve as a community centre for Cranbrook. The necessary facilities within this shell were to be supplied and paid for by the Parish.

This suggestion was discussed at length by the Parish Council. The idea was roundly rejected on the grounds that it would be completely unsuitable for the needs of a Parish the size of ours.

The Parish Council has NEVER rejected the idea of the suitability of the TWBC site for a Community Facility such as that currently proposed by the Cranbrook Weald Centre Group. We continue to fully support the aims and objectives of this important group.

It must be acknowledged that our proposed new Community Centre must be considerably larger with sufficient facilities to accommodate individuals, existing and future organised groups within the Parish and the surrounding area now for many years to come."

The Cranbrook "Pay to Park" issue.Car Parking Petition

It is proposed by TWBC that all cars and vehicles will be charged to use the currently free parking we have enjoyed for many years. There has been uproar and strong opposition from residents, businesses and fair minded visitors. This decsion could severly effect the community centre project too.  Shops and Businesses in Cranbrook are collecting signatures for a petition to help prevent parking fees being introduced. If you have not added your support so far, you can add yours through this button link. It is vital that we show TWBC that this is an ill-thought-out proposal.
